- Background on CanadaGAP programs and manuals
- Background on food safety
- Federal legislation vs. Provincial/Territorial legislation
- Overview of CanadaGAP checklist and scoring
- Requirements on how to Audit against the CanadaGAP standard
- Roles and responsibilities of an auditor
- Strategies for assessing compliance
- HACCP overview
- The requirements specific to repackaging and wholesaling operation
Objectives
This five-day course is designed to train potential auditors specifically for the CanadaGAP program. It includes a review of the CanadaGAP requirements, with practical examples. There will be an optional HACCP, repacking and wholesaling components. The course is four days of classroom training with a mandatory exam for successful completion.
Audience
Participants must pre-qualify by successfully completing the pre-course assignment. The assignment will be provided once registration has been completed. The Pre-course Assignment is intended for participants to familiarize themselves with the CanadaGAP Food Safety Manual in advance of the training. Participants must pass the pre-course assignment with an 80% in order to take the CanadaGAP Auditor Training course. The pre-course assignments are to be completed independently.
Participants must return their completed pre-course assignment for marking at least 10 business days before the start of the course.
It is recommended participants complete prerequisite courses prior to taking the CanadaGAP Auditor Training course. Recommended prerequisite courses include having successfully completed a training course in HACCP and have recognized training in audit techniques, based on QMS or FSMS. These prerequisite courses are not required, but it is preferred that course participants come into the course with more background knowledge, especially if they are interested in becoming a CanadaGAP Auditor.
