Objectives
I will learn the principles applicable in understanding and differentiating between incident ‘grades’, the purpose of investigations and the obligations of the employer and employee in the event of a workplace incident.
I will be able to investigate the direct and indirect causes and consequences of incidents (examined through a loss causation model) and understand the ratios between minor and major reported injury incidents in the workplace (as analysed by Frank Bird).
I will explore the four steps in the sequence of incidents, which will assist me in managing and controlling all probable or resultant losses.
I will be able to interpret the reporting requirements and steps to follow when investigating incidents in the workplace.
Audience
This subject is aimed at Supervisors, Managers and/or Safety Officers, or any person who wants to know more about safety management in the workplace.
