Description
Previously known as Apply First Aid, Senior First Aid or Level 2 First Aid, this course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support and management of casualty(s) and the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

- DRSABCD action plan
- Managing the unconscious breathing casualty
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Demonstration and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Legal issues
- Infection control
- Choking and airway obstruction
- First Aid kits
- Chest Pain
- Asthma
- Allergic reactions and Anaphylaxis
- Shock
- Wounds and bleeding
- Burns and scalds
- Safety and risk management
- Fractures, sprains, strains and dislocations
- Head, neck and spinal injuries
- Chest and abdominal injuries
- Facial and eye injuries
- Heat and cold induced illnesses
- Poisons and toxic substances
- Bites and stings
- Unconsciousness
Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course requirements, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for:
- HLTAID003 - Provide first aid

Participants with a language or literacy difficulty or other special needs should inform our training support staff prior to enrolling to discuss our support services if required. Participants must be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
Audience
This course is suitable for those persons who may be required to provide a first aid response, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
It is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice that you update your CPR skills every 12 months and first aid qualifications should be renewed every 3 years.
