Description
Our key people make critical decisions. The decisions can range from deciding whether to accept a supplier's products, allowing a critical part or process to proceed to the next process, or determining whether an item should be delivered to the customer. Thus, it is important that we assess the capability of our measurement system. The measurement system comprises the appraiser, measurement device, and the items or reports being assessed.
Usually, we contend ourselves with just getting our measurement devices calibrated or conducting qualification training to selected staff. Right after, we deploy the same to perform the required assessment of services, items, or reports. We are unmindful that even after calibration or staff training, there still lies significant measurement error that could affect accuracy and precision.
This training therefore explores approaches to managing measurement systems so that to they can be depended upon, especially for organizations who rely on inspection or assessments to fulfill customer requirements.
Objectives
At the end of the training, participants will be able to:
1 understand measurement system concepts of accuracy and
precision,
2 apply the different measurement techniques and tools for various
measuring, test, and evaluation resources, and
3 evaluate measurement system accuracy and precision levels to
establish needed follow up action.
Audience
This course is designed for front line managers, engineers, and quality or operations staff who would be involved in the development and implementation of a robust measurement system as part of the organization’s continual improvement program.
Note: SGS shall provide only generic information and advice which are freely available in public domain.
SGS will not provide company specific advice towards the development and implementation of the management systems for eventual certification, which contravenes the requirements of the IAF Guidance (i.e. provision of consultancy services).
