The Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) is designed to reduce duplication of effort in ethical trade auditing, benefitting retailers, consumer brands, and their suppliers.
SMETA was developed by the Associate Audtior Group of the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex) which is a non-profit organization dedicated to driving improvements in responsible and ethical business practices in global supply chains.
SMETA is not a code of conduct, a new methodology, or a certification process, but describes an audit procedure which is a compilation of good practices in ethical audit techniques. It helps experienced auditors conduct high quality audits that will be accepted by multiple retailers and brands.
This course is designed to provide an overview of SMETA which gives suppliers a solid understanding of the requirements and the audit methodology, it also gives auditors a good foundation of the materials and guidelines required to conduct an audit.
