The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), EU’s new framework for data protection has come into full effect on 25 May 2018 and overhauls the way the

companies handle and process personal data. The GDPR applies to the personal data of a natural person who is in EU.

The law not only applies to organizations in EU, it also applies to all companies processing and holding personal data in EU, regardless of their location. All companies, no matter based inside Europe or not, have to comply with the Regulation if they collect, store, and/or process any personal data in EU.
