The concept of BIM (Building Information Modelling) has existed since the 1970s and the term “ Building Information Model” first appeared in a 1992 paper by G.A. Nederveen and F.P. Tolman but it did not become popularly used until some 10 years later, around 2002.
BIM enables a virtual information shared-based model to be handled from the design team (architects, surveyors, engineers of various disciplines) to main contractors, sub-contractors and then to the owner / operator. This reduces information losses that traditionally occurred when a new team takes ‘ownership’ of the project, and provides more extensive information to owners of the project.
Use of BIM goes beyond the planning and design phase of the project, extending throughout the building life cycle, supporting processes including cost management, construction management, project management and facility operation.
REMARKS
SGS Academy BIM (Building Information Modelling) training courses have been pre-approved by the Construction Innovation and Technology Fund (CITF).
Under the perpetual ceiling of $15,000 per person, funding is provided to subsidise applicants to attend BIM training provided by external course providers on a reimbursement basis, subject to a cap of $3,000 or 70% of the course fee per course, whichever is higher.
For more information, please find CITF details
*To avoid double funding/subsidy, a Project, Training or any part thereof which will receive or has received funding/subsidy from another Government scheme will not be eligible to apply for the CITF
